That just comfirms that you only have 4.2.1 SHSH so you will only be able to restore to 4.2.1.

You need to have 4.2b3 SHSH for that untethered jailbreak to work.

hello, my iphone keeps crashing to safe mode and i dont know what to do, i dont want to do a restore since i bought the iphone secondhand and they told me never to update or the phone will be locked.
from above post, i will tell you what i see on cydia
on top it says SHSH:iOS 3.1,3.1.2,3.1.3,4.0,4.0.1,4.0.2,4.1
on bottom it says 3GS iOS 4.0
what does that mean? can i take the (big) risk to restore it?
(i have no clue about these things)
    TIA

That means you are on 4.0 and can restore to all the firmwares listed there. Are you unlocked?

Just use tiny umbrella to restore to 4.0.1 is my suggestion then: http://modmyi.com/forums/general/725...e-restore.html

You can use jailbreakme.com after the restore to jailbreak and then install ultrasnow to unlock again.

ok, after deleting all the latest cydia apps its working again.
thanks for your help, its good to know though that if i have a problem i can restore.
Another question, is there a way i can update my OS to 4.0.1 or even 4.1? or its only possible to update to the latest version?

You can restore to any of the versions you have SHSH for, so you have a lot of choices, more than most

ok - i have tried numerous times to restore my phone. idk what has happened but it will not get out of recovery mode for anything. whenever i plug it into itunes, it shows my iphone's capacity, software version and serial number as "N/A."

i think i have lost my phone completely. i am really worried now. i have tried to get out of recovery mode manually before plugging it into itunes.

this is going on my 3rd time trying to get my phone back to even being fully restored. i do not have access to anything at the moment. any advice would be appreciated. thank you so much.

What are you trying to restore to and are you putting it in dfu when restoring?

    update - 1440 hrs

on the phone with apple and they have explained due to an error that i received on itunes (1013) that due to the phone being jailbroken, it will not allow my iphone to restore to its original settings because its blocking it so it wouldn't show that it was jailbroken to apple. the senior advisor is attempting to resolve this issue.

I cant help if you dont answer the questions

If you have a iPhone 4 and are trying to restore to 4.2.1 (and dont care about unlock) then you have to open tiny umbrella, click on advanced, deselect the box that say set hosts to cydia on exit. then close tiny umbrella and try the restore again.

Then that is most likely the issue. Do what I said and you wont get the 1013 error.
