3gs/4.2.1 prognosis

hey all,

so I have a 3gs that was upgraded to apples latest and greatest (don't ask..). It was previously jb'd at 4.0.1 alas no more.

pulled down pwnage tool 4.1.3 and tried a number of options. First it wouldn't allow 4.1 to be used due to it not being eligible. next tried 4.2.1 and used the ipad baseband hack and whilst it allowed me to restore to the custom ipsw, i was still left with the "activate phone" screen.

then did redsn0w and tried all the options there, phone rebooted and still left with activate screen.

right now the prognosis for me seems like i have a very expensive brick to sit on the desk and admire. Paging through the posts on here it seems im not alone.

Does anyone maybe have any possible idea of how I can jailbreak this ***** or am I stuck waiting for the gods that are the dev team to do their voodoo and get me back to a land of being able to enjoy the brick?

Redsnow can activate it for you, just choose the option to install cydia. Make sure you are pointing redsnow to a regular 4.2.1 firmware and are choosing the correct option if you have a new model 3GS or not.
