“If you are an unlocker, you should not update to 4.2.1 yet. You will lose your chances of unlocking. Wait for PwnageTool, which should be updated relatively soon.”
Ok So somehow I managed to update my phone during the unlock process to. 4.2.1 Problem is now I am not jailbroken and not unlocked.
Im on firmware 5.15.04 running version 4.2.1 and i have no idea how to get back to my jailbroken 4.1 with firmware 5.15.02
Im so lost right now. I hate how it updated my phone without me telling it to. Did I lose my chance to unlock?
I cant even do my custom restore as i get this message
The Iphone “Iphone” could not be restored. This device isn’t eligible for the requested build.
Is there anyway to downgrade my version back to 4.1 so I can get my jailbroken Iphone back?

Use tiny umbrella, plug iphone in and click save shsh. If you don't have 4.1 blob, you can't downgrade. If you want unlock , you have to go with ipad baseband but you might lose your GPS functionality.
You could have saved the SHSHs in Cydia for 4.1 and below if you were previously jb and used the "make my life easier" option in Cydia. Some people have done this and didn't even know they saved their SHSHs. TinyUmbrella will tell you whether you have them saved or not at this point. Just check with TU first and let us know what you've got saved. If you don't have SHSHs for 4.1, you'll have to restore to a custom firmware for 4.2.1 to jb, or jb it where it is now with Redsn0w. You could wait for a new unlock to come out or you could go the route iYeow said, which is to update your baseband to the iPad baseband 6.15.00 to unlock. Be aware like iYeow said, this CAN (not necessarily will but can) cause you to lose GPS functionality. It will also in an obvious way permanently upgrade your baseband (unless Apple releases a baseband higher than 6.15.00 in the future) and void your warranty if you have any.
When you click Save SHSH in tinyumbrella, it should tell you what it was able to pull from the server in the log. Check the log below, it should tell you. Also in the "Display SHSH" window it should tell you what are saved locally after clicking "Save SHSH"
