iPhone 3GS stuck iat conect to itunes after 4.2.1 (06.15.00 baseband) update

Need some help guys, I tried updating My iphone 3gs to 4.2.1 06.15.00 baseband and now it's stuck by the conect to Itunes sceen.I tried the update again and got the same result. Helppppp

Have you tried tether boot from Redsn0w ?

Are you referring the check box thast says ( Just boot thethered right now ) ? Yes I tried that the phone rebooted then back to the conect to Itunes screen and stuck there.

Check your PM box, restore again to this file. You have to install Cydia with Redsn0w after restoring.

I tried this method but got an error 29 from itunes then the iphone went back to collect to itunes screen

Use redsn0w 0.9.6b6 and browse to stock 4.2.1 fw. Check only the box DfU mode only and finish up the process until you see a message DFU done.
Make sure you have the latest itunes .
Now run itunes and shift + restore to this CFW of 4.2.1
Once restored, go back to redsn0w, run it again and install Cydia.

Okay I did all those steps but got the same connect to itunes screen

But I had a little problem following your instructions cause im such a noob, (but figured the rest out on my own) and I'm assuming thats the problem the other guy is having.

So without further a due, I will copy and paste iYeows fix and add my own instructions that worked for me.

1. Use redsn0w 0.9.6b6 and browse to stock 4.2.1 fw.

The "fw" is firmware. And the firmware i loaded is called "iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw", im sure a quick google search can find this.

2.Check only the box DfU mode only and finish up the process until you see a message DFU done.

(Basically when loading Redsn0w, just check " Just enter pwned DFU mode right now" and continue following the redsn0w instructions.

3. Make sure you have the lastest itunes.

Well this one is pretty self explanatory.

4.Now run itunes and shift + restore to this CFW of 4.2.1

Now this one through me through a loop cause didnt know what a CFW was / and shift + restore didnt work for me in iTunes (im on a mac).

So, if your on a windows PC, yes "Shift" + "restore" will work for you, however if your on a Mac you will need to use "option" key plus restore to select your "CFW".

Ok so your an idiot like me and dont know what a CFW is? Well it seems simple but a CFW is a Custom Firm Ware. So what I did is went to The Pirate Bay and downloaded a file called "iPhone 3G Custom Restore Firmware 4.2.1 8C148 ipsw" and loaded that through iTunes, and Presto my iphone was fully working once again!

So, again I want to say thank you to iYeow for making this possible!

Thanks for these steps. Just to clarify, is this iPhone 3G or 3GS? I am having the same issue on my iPhone 3G on 4.2.1/06.15.

@ treeferreefer the cf you directed me to download is for the 3G not the 3GS, you have any othe sugestions?

The custom firmware file for 3GS is called "iPhone 3GS Custom Restore Firmware 4.2.1 8C148a ipsw" on the pirate bay. I would assume it would work the same way but I cant be sure as I dont have 3GS... Good luck!

Hi Guys...

I am still having this issue of seeing the 'connect to itunes logo'

I referred to the steps mentioned by treeferreefer and did the following


1) Used redsn0w 0.9.6b6 and restored to stock 4.2.1
2) Selected 'Pwned DFU mode' only in redsn0w.
3) Then, using itunes restored to custom ipsw - iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148-3G_Custom_Restore_4.2.1_with_615bb.
4) After the restore was complete, my iPhone is still stuck in recovery mode.

Here are the details - iPhone 3G 4.2.1 BB 6.15.00

Am I missing something? Please help.

Are u a hundred percent sure you downloaded "iPhone 3G Custom Restore Firmware 4.2.1 8C148 ipsw" from the pirate bay? Because I have the exacty same iphone (3G 4.2.1 BB 6.15.00) with the identical issue and this worked for me, but it had to be that specific file from the pirate bay to work... if you do a google search for "iPhone 3G Custom Restore Firmware 4.2.1 8C148 ipsw" it will be the first link on the list. .. im almost positive that your "iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148-3G_Custom_Restore_4.2.1_with_615bb" file will not work.

Thanks treeferreerer!! This worked well for me, and my phone is now running again.

I cannot SSH into my iPhone since I dont have wifi connection right now. But I will get that done soon, I hope.

Are there any other alternatives to SSH for copying cydia files to my iPhone?

One last question...

After all these steps I am unable to SSH to my iPhone. I know the IP address of my phone but is there any special setting to enable SSH?

I need ssh access to copy the the cydia update on the phone.
