Atleast he's helping hehe.
On another note fresh iPad from Friday and it jail breaks just as easy as any other iDevice. So as of now Apple hasnt fixed a damn thing. If you're having problems you should try another computer or even another cable. If ur device already has 4.2.1 installed. Even a fresh 4.2.1 install will fix some of your problems. But please make sure u already have 4.2.1 installed on your device before you do so.No signature spam or links

Yeah there's something wrong with my USB host controller. It can sync/restore iOS devices just fine (and jailbreak devices on 4.1 using redsn0w or greenpois0n/syringe over USB) but it couldn't do 4.2.1 rs/syringe for whatever reason.
Used a buddy's, dumped the bootrom, hasn't changed. Then I jailbroke it successfully. -shrug- I assumed my local hardware was not the issue, I was very wrong.

I had the same thing happen while jailbreaking my iPad! Although this isn't the answer in your case, I fixed mine by moving the USB sync cable from a POS Belkin powered USB hub to a USB port directly on the motherboard.
Just thought I'd share.
