iPhone 3G 4.2.1 stuck at Connect to iTunes

Hi guys,

Okay, so I just tried using redsnow to upgrade my iPhone 3G to 4.2.1 and update to iPad BB, the process went smooth until it stucks at the Apple logo with a 'hanged' loading circle...I guess it updated the BB cuz there were never any pictures showing 'Updating Baseband Do Not Interrupted', just Blank screen with a 'dot', like those in command prompt, at the top left corner of the screen.

Waited a while I restarted it, then tried to restore using iTunes, but it gave me error 1015 as expected.

I ran redsnow again this time without BB update, the process is finished. ~Phew~ It rebooted into the Connect to iTunes screen. Omg...

Any ideas...? Just for the information, I never did any shsh Blobs, I guess no way for me to downgrade to 4.1. Hope someone can help me out, thanks in advance! And sorry for my bad English.

Redsnow cannot update or restore firmware. Only iTunes can do that. You are probably still on 4.1.

Hmmm, but I can't downgrade, or restore to 4.2.1 via iTunes, because error 1015 will appear since the BB already updated.

Have you use exit recovery from Tiny umbrella to kick it out error 1015 if your fw is still at 4.1. If you are already at 4.2.1, TU will not kick it out.
You can restore to stock 4.1 fw if you have 4.1 shsh blob saved with Cydia. I assume you have ran TU before you do anything to save shsh blob. If you have used it, then you have to do alot of work now. Find out your ECID and input into Tiny Umbrella and save shsh.
You can also restore to custom firmware of 4.2.1 since you have the ipad BB.
Redsn0w to dfu and Shift + restore to CFW 4.2.1

Hmmm...I'd like to try restoring using CFW first. May I know where can I find custom firmware of 4.2.1...? I'm not using a Mac OS so unable to create using PwnageTool.

Edited: I tried restoring to 4.1 OFW, then used Tinyumbrella to kick it out of recovery mode, it worked. But it stucked at the Emergency screen with Connect to iTunes image at the background. This phone is locked, what should I do next...?

Try and google search and get it from the net for CFW 4.2.1.
If you have 4.1 shsh blob, open up Tiny umbrealla and then close it, it will set your hosts file pointing to Cydia. Shift + restore to stock 4.1.
If you haven't used itunes to restore to 4.2.1 and only used TU to update bb, you must be still at 4.1, Exit recovery should kick out 1015.

At stock 4.1, you can jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.9.6b6, it will hactivate for you. To avoid battery drain, add this repo to Cydia : repo.bingner.com and install SAM and SamPrefs

Just did some trial and error. Currently running fine with firmware 4.1 with iPad BB, jailbroken and unlocked.

All I did was restore back to 4.1 and ran Tinyumbrella to kick it out of recovery mode. After that it boot directly into Emergency screen since it's locked. I used redsnow to jailbreak it and installed Ultrasnow 1.2. Everything runs perfectly fine for now I guess.

I am having the same problems!!!! HELP!! I have 3GS on 4.2 (latest) it was working fine but I am trying to sell it to someone with AT&T..i had it unlocked and it was a tethered jailbreak but I couldnt sell it if they had to Tether boot it all the time...so i wanted to restore it and now its on "connect to itune" screen!! HOW DID U RESTORE IT BACK TO 4.1? WHERE DID U GET THE 4.1 IPSW AND DID U USE REDSNOW OR APPLE ITUNES TO INITIALLY RESTORE IT TO 4.1? THANKS I NEED MY PHONE TO BOOT BACK TO THE HOME SCREEN ATLEAST!!

Run redsn0w 0.9.6rc7 to tether boot your iphone. Then go to front page of Cydia, if it says 4.1 shsh blob, then you can, otherwise you can't.

Well isnt the redsnow 9.6 rc7 for mac..i have windows..i am stuck on the "connect to itunes screen" i cannot boot tethered or jailbreak with 4.2 stock ispw..i tried that...

My phone previously before this bricked state was running 4.2.1 ipad bb unlocked and jailbroken through redsnw..i wanted to restore the iphone to get the tethered problem off of the phone because i do not want to sell this phone to someone when they always have to boot it through redsnow tethered..its a hassel...but anyways i am stuck at 'itunes screen' on my phone after multiple jailbreaks via redsnow with 4.2 stock fw..

I have not tried 4.1 or anything else...can you help me wih this..because all i have on my computer is 4.2 fw and redsnow 9.6b5 and after i jailbrek with ipad bb on 4.2 i still get 'itunes screen' on my phone and itunes on my computer gives me an error when i restore it

Yes, you are right, I forgot it is only for Mac. You can use redsn0w 0.9.6b6 for PC to tether boot.
If it doesn't do it, then you have to restore to custom firmware of 4.2.1 or if you have 4.1 blob, then you can actually restore to stock 4.1 firmware.

Do this , download tiny umbrella , run it and close it.
Download the stock 4.1 firmware, run itunes : shift + restore to stock 4.1. If you get error 1015, the use Exit recovery to kick it out.
If you are getting error 3194, then you don't have the required shsh blob for 4.1.

OOOOOMMMMMG IT WORKED!!!!!!!!! I PREVIOUSLY HAS IPHONE 3GS 4.2.1 LATEST UPDATED WITH IPAD BASEBAND TO UNLOCK..EVERYTHING WORKED AND I WAS USING IT AND THEN I RESTORED IT LATER AND IT WAS STUCK ON RECOVER LOOP WITH CONNECT TO ITUNES SCREEN

I WAS ON THE COMPUTER FOR HOURS AND HOURS FROM 7PM-4AM!!!! WOWW!! AND I FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK!

STEPS I USED:
1. DOWNLOAD STOCK 4.2 FW AND RUN IT THROUGH REDSNOW AS PWNED DFU MODE
2. THEN SHIFT + RESTORED THROUGH ITUNES AND POINTED TO A *CUSTOM* 4.2 RESTORE AND LET I TUNES DO THE REST!

WOW I AM SO RELIEVED BECAUSE I CAN NEVER LET A JOB GO UNFINISHED AND AFTER SOOOOO MANY HOURS, I CAN FINALLY REST!
