I have an iphone 3g 4.1 that was previous jailbroken. For some reason it got stuck on reboot loop. I only had sbsettings installed at the time. When i restored it, I can't put it in DFU mode, let alone turn it off when the iphone is plugged into the computer. It will only turn off when the iphone is unplugged from the computer. When its plugged in, i hold the power button for like 30 secs and it won't turn off. Not even holding the power and home button for 10 secs will turn it off when plugged in
how to i do that, i used Redsn0w 0.9.6b6, opened it selected "just enter pwned DFU mode right now" clicked next, and it tells me to make sure my iphone is plugged in and turned off, i can't turn it off when its plugged in.
You have to trigger your iphone into recovery mode. You can trigger it by holding both the buttons until when it starts to go off, then release the Power button but keep holding the Home button and plug in your iphone. Once you are in recovery mode.
Run redsn0w and check the dfu box.
The moment when you start clicking the Next button where the 3 secs counts starts, press the Power button exactly the same time.
Then proceed to finish until dfu is done.
Now you can run itunes and shift + restore to stock 4.1
