how to restore iphone from backup (its complicated)
Hey
I had an iphone 4 running on 4.2.1 and I had problems with the phone so apple actually replaced it with another phone that had 4.1 on it. When I try to restore the new phone from my backup itunes tells me to upgrade the firmware of the phone to 4.2.1. I really dont want to do that, I was wondering if there was someway around it. Because the jb for 4.1 is a lot more stable than the jb for 4.2.1. So I was wondering if there was someway for me to get all my data (contacts, texts, pictures and videos) transferred onto the new 4.1 iphone without having to upgrade to 4.2.1?
PS. I actullay have an older iphone 3gs which I have upgrade to 4.2.1 just so I could use my contacts. There might be 3rd party apps that might allow me to backup all my information and then restore it onto a different phone. If any such softwares do exist please let me know (I have a macbook running snow leopard and a PC with windows 7).
Thanks

iPhone backup extractor will extract the databases for you and can ssh them onto your new phone, other than that there is no program that I'm aware of that will restore a 4.2.1 backup directly to your 4.1 phone
In the end we're all just chalk lines on the concrete, drawn only to be washed away. For the time that I've been given, I am what I am.

iphone backup extractor can be found by googling. You can put the extracted stuff back on the device by using a program like disk aid or iphonebrowser.
