3GS - Apple logo, but visible in iTunes, and syncs ok!
Hi all,
My boss gave me his old 3GS, which he claimed had a dead battery. It doesn't, but it won't boot properly.
I get the Apple logo, but it is visible in iTunes, and it syncs. I've tried restoring "normally", and from recovery mode, DFU mode and pwned DFU mode, with 4.1 and 4.2.1, both vanilla and custom, with sn0wbreeze and redsn0w. I also tried Greenpois0n, but if failed. When it restores, if I have the "wrong" sim card in, then in iTunes, it does the "You need to insert the original SIM blah blah" but if I put in the correct one, it says I need to unlock the SIM and reconnect... But I can't, because the device shows only the Apple logo! I can't even get to the "Emergency calls only" stage.
Anyone experienced this before?

If you are seeing only apple logo, it means your iphone is in a frozen mode. Do a restore to stock fw , you should be at emergency screen when restored.

Already tried that... Doesn't seem to matter how I attempt a restore, nothing results in anything other than the Apple logo.
I used redsn0w to boot tethered, and now I can't even get into DFU mode, and if I power off the device while tethered, it automatically boots after 2 seconds. It didn't do this before, and my 3G doesn't either...
Are there any tools out there to force a phone into DFU mode?
