jailbreak 3gs 4.1 help

Hi guys I'm a new member and need some advice. Just brought a 3gs from a friend. O2 unlocked the phone for him, because I'm on Orange. The advice I need is if I was to jailbreak the phone would it still be unlocked. Also what program would you recommend to jailbreak. I'm running Windows Vista. Many thanks in advance. Sorry for being a noob

Check your modem firmware under Setting > general > about .

yes it will still be unlocked if you jailbreak it. Nothing you do will change that. For jailbreaking I would recommend redsnow 0.9.6b6

One other question. I have been hearing about SHSH blobs. Can someone explain what these are and would I need to back up mine before jailbreaking? Thanks
