first one is Limera1n had it work no worries on iphone 4 initially had some issues with the phone and did a restore on the phone itself now i get the apple logo on its own for a while then with the thinking clock thing then plain apple etc untill the battery is flat no amount of reboots fixes it itunes doesnt see it tinyumbrella doesnt see it etc.
i can go to dfu mode but so far it doesnt seem to let me restore 4.1 i havent tried a restore to 4.2 yet but im contemplating it.
next is my old 3g... limera1n now crashes in dfu mode and just sits there for ever so i thought ill try out greenpois0n and it wont let me go to dfu mode.. the phone goes to dfu but the program cant see it...
please some one offer me some advice here ive been working on it for about 8 hrs across a few phones and no luck
For the iP4, try setting it into recovery mode or DFU mode first then restore. You'll need 4.1 SHSHs to restore to 4.1. If you don't have them, you'll have to restore to 4.2.1. The jailbreak will be tethered on 4.2.1.
can i jailbreak 4.2.1 properly though ?? i was kinda out of this whole thing for a bit just getting back into it again now.
and if i got to 4.2.1 im stuck with a lockd carrier for a while it seems from what i read. i really want it to work on 4.1 so i can unlock it.
any ideas why i cant restore it on 4.1 ? i have the ipsw downloaded done all the dfu mode stuff but it says its invalid even though it was jailbroken and by rights cydia would have shsh files for it... its bugging me considering all i did was click full reset on the phone as i was having some issue with it after the jailbreak i wanted to start again from scratch
i also store my own shsh files with TU doesnt seem to matter in this case though
grrrrr and now trying to just get this phone to reboot im trying the just boot option on redsn0w and redsn0w keeps crashing part way through.i get the pineapple and then it sits there
and now i ran limera1n again all was looking good but im stuck on the lime drop icon. i am going nuts right now. all i did was a factory reset on the phone
gave up tried going to 4.2.1 and having issues with that itunes saying 4 hrs to dl? wont let me install the ipsw i have on file

If you have 4.1 SHSHs saved, you have to run TinyUmbrella's TSS Server and then restore to 4.1. If you don't have the 4.1 SHSHs, then you cannot restore to anything except 4.2.1. You can jailbreak 4.2.1 just fine, it is just going to be a tethered jb.
tethered and locked. i think the reason i cant restore on 4.1 is that the phone is crashing in start up where nothing recognises it. only time TU can see it is when i force it to recovery mode. itunes sees it then and in DFU.
im pretty sure i have tried every option so it looks like 4.2.1 it is only issue there is no carrier unlock yet that i have seen
