    Default Question on Jailbreak tethered

I used redsnow to jailbreak my new 3gs with 5.14 and the new bootrom ( checked it and it has it)

I have read you have to reboot tethered yet I can reboot untethered with the jailbreak intact, so did I misunderstand?

    Is the tether for unlock?

What firmware are you on and are you sure you have a new bootrom 3GS?

    Sorry 4.1
Used the bootrom checker and it said I had the new one
Since I'm on At&t I do not need the unlock
If I want to tether PDA net is now free

If you are on 4.1 then it is a untethered jailbreak for all devices.

Ok thanks thats the part I was unsure about
Last week I upgraded wife 3g to 4.1
    Jailbroke no problem
But now I read that 4.1 is not being signed anymore? Does that mean upgrading and activating 4.1 normal is now gone?
I'm doing a back up for her as well

That means if you dont have 4.1 SHSH then you cant restore to 4.1.
