Iphone 4 Bricked??
OK guys here is what happened... I tried to change the mac address of the phone... since various stuff failed I used the nvram wifiaddr command to change the mac address...
I rebooted and got stuck on emergency only calls and my iphone wanted to activate itself and I have put a valid sim in it but it just wouldn't activate... I tried to restore it but all I get from my iTunes is the 3149 and 11 error which I tried to fix with the hosts file and it worked once and it started to restore it and it got trough...
then it prompted me to restore it out of a backup or new... I restored from backup... and then I saw that wifi was greyed out... and that is 100% because I used the nvram command... so I tried to install cydia and open ssh which I did using redsn0w... since I couldn't connect via wifi I downloaded itunel and tried to use putty to execute the nvram comand but this time to change it back to the original...
it wouldn't connect... then I tried to erase all data and try that.. and there was the misery... my phone is now stuck at boot logo... tried with rejailbreaking won't work... tried dfu mode and restore in itunes but still 3149 and 11 error... tried recovery mode and restore but still 3149 and 11 error...
so is my phone bricked?? how to kick it out of the boot logo?? if nothn helps can I buy some part on ebay in which the info for the wifi is stored and exchange it to get it working... pls help I'm really desperate
My system is win7 if that helps

Put your iphone into recovery mode and restore to stock 4.2.1

thank you soo much... I have got it to work again... seems like itunes was kinda getting that I wanted to downgrade my iPhone 4 (which is weird the software was 4.1 on my phone and i tried to restore to the same one)... now everything works fine except wifi... for which I need to install SSH and SSH into the phone over my USB cable to set the nvram command back... any suggestions on this??Last edited by admirdante; 12-08-2010 at 09:37 AM. Have you tried doing a forget network on your iphone and then key in the wep for the password of your connecting wifi.

thanks for the help but it's not like I could get to that... my wifi was greyed out so it wasn't working at all... what I did is after I updated to 4.2.1 i had my shsh blobs and downgraded it back to 4.1 after that jailbroke it...
installed cydia with redsn0w.. put mobileterminal in cydia autoinstall... and got into the root user... and typed in this nvram -d wifiaddr...
after that rebooted it and got stuck at activation... restored it once again to 4.1 and wifi was working... so everything works fine now... thanks again for the help

Cool, for mobileterminal iOS 4.1, you can actually add this repo : podzombie.com/repository
