I think the issue is that no one that has posted has the ability or equipment to build you a CFW. Give the thread a chance, although on our forum we can not post links to CFW, but we can send it in a Private Massage, so give it a chance or Google is a viable alternative. [Forum Rules]
And by the way, welcome to MMi.

While I could cook up a CFW and stash it in S3 or something, it wouldn't do you a rat's bahookie worth of good without a tool to enter pwned DFU mode (necessary to restore to any custom firmware).
Greenpois0n is the only OS X tool I know of that's open-source (snag at https://github.com/Chronic-Dev/) but I think is dependent on Tiger or Leopard to run. Compiling that may get a bit dicey, but it's all I can think of.
EDIT: What version of OS X are you running? From a code standpoint, Leopard (10.5) should be sufficient for APIs/functions/etc. to compile (though IDK if Xcode still has a PPC compiler).Last edited by Orby; 12-05-2010 at 08:27 PM.

Today, i even use Snowbreeze 2.1 to build a custom firmware of 4.1 for my iphone 4 and restored to it. It works like a charm and i did not once but twice with success.

I did not argue that POWERPC is superior to Intel, merely it is better quality and sufficient for me. Since Pwnage seems to be universal, I will give it a whirl, I guess 4.2 FW is overated for ipod 3g. What I meant in teh first part of the thread about the custom FW is, back when I had a 2g touch, I opened my FW file in 7zip, changed some files around and VOILA! when I DFUED the iPod, I was jailbroken after a restore in iTunes. I assumed teh same could be done today, but that seems nobody does it anymore. Thanks to the serious posters who posted what i needed, i'll post back the results.

the bootrom in the 3g doesn't use the same exploit. Translation: I'm 99.9% sure that it's not going to work.
