Ok I know literally nothing about anything anyone has told me to do. If someone would be kind enough to give me a step by step walk through on how to either down grade or or make a custom 4.2.1 I would greatly appreciate it!!!
Run redsnow. If you are on windows vista or 7 then you need to run it in windows xp sp2 compatibility mode.
Point redsnow to the 4.2.1 regular firmware.
Press next.
Choose just enter pwned dfu in options and follow instructions.
Once in dfu open itunes hold down shift and click restore. A window will pop up where you can choose the custom 4.2.1.
Once it is restored you can either use a official sim to activate with itunes or run redsnow again to hacktivate.
ok so redsnow says its processing the firmware... when you said point redsnow to the 4.2.1 regular firmware... did you mean hit browse from the redsnow screen and open the regular firmware?
And does the phone have to be pugged in and showing the screen telling me to plug it into itunes for this to work?
Ok... I followed all the instructions... and clicked "done" for redsnow. I then opened up Itunes and pressed shift and clicked restore... it pulls up a box saying to restore and update or cancel... it didnt bring up a window telling me to choose a custom firmware.

You are on windows right? If holding down shift and clicking restore didnt bring up a window then something is wrong with your itunes. You either need to try it on a new computer or fix your itunes somehow. Make sure you have latest version of itunes also.
