Default Help with data recovery from 3GS that wont boot past apple logo!

Hi, my first post here! Need some help!

Right, early yesterday eve, I was having problems with facebook app. So I opted to delete and re load it from the app store. The app store kept telling me it was already installed and I had no option to install or anything else.

So I bring up SB settings and respring. All of a sudden phone goes off. Apple logo comes up then goes off. I leave it a while as this has happened before when I plug it into my car stereo. It usually just reboots and all is well.

This time nothing. So I do the usual on/off and home button to reset. Nothing. Apple logo comes on then it turns off again.

Now my upgrade is due in 4 days, so I'm not too bothered apart from not having a spare phone! I know about putting it in DFU mode then doing a full restore etc. But I really really really want to recover the photos and videos of my kids I hadn't backed up!

I've searched over and over but find nothing that can help. Does anyone know of anyway I can access and copy/transfer the photos and vids?

I'm willing to donate a little cash to someone if they can successfully help me out!

If I need to download something then I'll need links and guides etc lol! Someone has mentioned using tinyumbrella, but everything I see is all about restoring for jb's etc. Can someone explain if this is going to help?

    For reference it's a 3GS on 3.0.1.
I think I used blackrain and ultrasnow!

Again, I'm only interested in recovering the photos and vids on the phone. And possibly texts.

    Hope someone can help,

    RT

If you have sync your iphone prior to this freezing mode, you can always recovery it from your pc.
If you have not , and if you have ssh installed on your iphone. There is a slight chance that you can ssh into the phone and go to the photo / video files and copy those files.

I've not got ssh installed on my phone.

Is this hopeless then? I'd rather not keep my hopes up lol. I'll come to terms with it. Plus not having an iphone is crazy! using some LG thing which is odd! Want my iphone back lol.

Easy : You can either go for 4.1 or 4.2.1 and still be able to unlock.
    To get to 4.1 :
For PC , download Snowbreeze 2.1 and download the stock 4.1 ipsw. Build your custom firmware of 4.1.
Run ireb release 2 to put you into DfU mode and then shift + restore to Snowbreeze_4.1.ipsw

For 4.2.1: For Mac : Run Pwnage tools 4.1.3 , you have to add 3gs bundle because this tool doesn't include the 3gs bundle and then restore to this cfw of 4.2.1
Read this : iClarified - iPhone - How to Add a Firmware Bundle to PwnageTool
This Pwnage tools will only preserve your baseband at what you have. It will not install Cydia and will not hactivate.
Once restored, you have to use Redsn0w to install Cydia for you .

As i have said, you can only recover what is on your computer. After the restore , everything is gone. You can do a backup restore and not setup as a new iphone. But you might have issues on this newly restored fw. I usually recommend to setup as a new iphone.

    Thanks mate,

Last back up was a while ago. The newer stuff I will loose I guess.
