    Default Jailbreaking 3g 3.1.2

I have an unlocked 3g with 3.1.2 firmware. I want to jailbreak it. I tried this tutorial:
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7DnqOS1njU]YouTube - Jailbreak 3.1.2 iPhone & iPod Touch w/ Blackra1n on Windows[/ame]

However I am getting the ASL.dll error.

So then I decided to go with the redsn0w method yet the redsn0w 0.9 no longer exists. I cannot find the file anywhere.

    What should I do??

It seems that every time I try to jailbreak an iphone, it is EXTREMELY difficult even though I follow the directions. I either get wrong directions, errors, or unable to download files needed to jailbreak

The reason is because you never do any research.,

Just FYI, blackra1n errors if you don't put it in the right location on your comp. I forgot which folder it is, but a Google search on Blackra1n error ASL.dll will show you results on where that location is.

Redsn0w 0.9.4 will work fine as well, if not better than Blackra1n.

Yea the ASL.dll is saved in the same directory as Blackrain.exe. I used redsn0w with success but unsurprisingly, I am now having yet another problem. My Cydia gets stuck in loading data or reloading data screen and I cannot do anything on Cydia.

Cydia can take a very long time on first run on a 3G on 3.1.2. Just bare with it, once you do the first updates and restart it will be better.

I didn't say Blackra1n and the ASL.dll has to be in the same place. Blackra1n has to be in one of your computer's system files in one if the Apple folders.

But that's irrelevant now, you Cydia can take maybe 30 minutes, took a 2G that I did that long. 3G should be faster though on the first load. Then after updating it should run as normal.

I just did a 3g a few days ago on 3.1.3. Took about half an hour to get those first updates. Have to be very patient with a 3g.

I get an 'Error: refreshing data" after the long "loading data" screen. I proceed to press okay and I am stuck at reloading data again. Im going to wait again and see what happens.

Seems sometimes Cydia doesn't finish loading ever. I've run into this several times with other people's phones. Usually I redo everything and if one jb tool keeps this behavior up, I try another tool. You might consider restoring and jb again. If the issue persists, try another tool. Give Blackra1n another go if Redsn0w isn't doing well. If you've got an official carriers SIM that's even better b/c then you could use Spirit which works very well.

Edit: here's a link to fix your blackra1n ASL.dll problem. Just place blackra1n in the appropriate location and run it from that location. Best run as admin if possible too.

    Error Blackra1n ASL.dll is not found | Blackra1n

Two other options if blackra1n just isn't getting it done for you (restore to stock 3.1.2 before attempting either):

    Click from your 3G
Click from your computer. Unknown if this works with iTunes 10.x.

EDIT: These will only work with a legitimate carrier SIM card to activate your iPhone. These may or may not assist your Cydia lagginess; keep trying and be patient is the only advice I really have.
