Error 1646

iPhone 3G 16gb running 4.0.2
Everytime i try to recover/upgrade i get error 1646 or 1645 in itunes. I put my phone in DFU mode and start up the restores but it just boots up and itunes gives me the error. Please help! Im desperate at this point. thanks in advance

Restoring to 4.xx fw need shsh blobs. Read the sticky threads here to learn how to restore.

i thought 3G dont require SHSH blobs. I sucessfully downgraded from 4.2 to 4.0.2 but not i cant re-downgrade. I need to recover so i can fix my activtion problem.

You can downgrade to 3.xx anytime by putting your iphone into dfu mode and shift + restore to 3.xx without the need of shsh blobs.

Download Tiny Umbrella and plug in your iphone ( must be bootable)
and click save shsh .

downloaded 3.1.3 ispw and put it into DFU mode and tried to restore still no go.
Tried changing the hosts still get the same problem

What itunes do you have ? You have to put your iphone into DFU mode first.

itunes 10.1 and yessir i know about the dfu and kicking out using recboot but i cnt even get it to ugrade to the newest os. it keeps giving me the same error

You are confusing me, one moment you said you want to downgrade to 3.1.3 , the next moment you said you want the latest.

If you don't need unlock, you should be able to restore to 4.2.1 if there is no hardware issue.

well regardless of what i attempt either downgrading or upgrading it gives me that error. well if i can get it to unlock and work i dont care about change the ios. Well i jailbroke it and installed ultrasnow but it keeps searching when i put in my tmobile sim card

Have you tried the ON/OFF 3g button.
I know for sure you can downgrade to 3.1.3 , put iphone into dfu /recovery mode and shift + restore to 3.1.3 ipsw.
exit recovery from Tiny umbrella to error 1015.
