HELP! iphone 4 jailbreak 4.2.1
I can successfully jailbreak it on the 4.2.1 firmware using redsnow 0.9.6 b4.
I know i have to boot in tethered mode to fully jailbreak my iphone. But i always get stuck on the pineapple logo and im stuck there.
If i hold the home button and power button it will reboot in normal mode and i wont get the jailbreak fully done.
Ive tried over 5 times to re-enter tethered mode. But it is no succes.
Please i wuld really appriciate some help.
Thank you

Why don't you go back to 4.1
If you have 4.1 shsh file , then you are better off going back to 4.1.
If you don't have 4.1 shsh file, then you can use cfw of 4.1 to restore.Last edited by iYeow; 12-03-2010 at 07:30 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Yeah, this is the best choice . Wait for a new untethered jailbreak for iphone 4. I have factory unlock for iphone 4, but i am still at 4.1. I don't want a tethered jailbreak.
What if you do a respring while in a car, then you can't use your iphone.
You know what i mean.

You need to start tss server with 4.1 blobs to be able to restore to stock 4.1.

Getting a custom 4.1 from someone with a Mac will bypass the need to use shsh. Or if you have a Mac yourself, make it with PenageTool. If not, I'm sure someone here can help you with that.

I have include two cfw 4.1 for iphone 4, one is activated and the other isn't.
When you download this file, rename it from .zip to .ipsw. Do not extract.
Run redsn0w to put you into DFU mode , and shift + restore to this file. They are in your PM box.
Yes, i have both activated and non activated.
The important step is to use Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 or 6 to put you into DFU mode and shift + restore to this cfw of 4.1 for iphone 4.
Go check your PM box in one minute.Last edited by iYeow; 12-03-2010 at 10:02 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Downgrading from 4.2.1 to 4.1

thanks for the PM!
Just to let you know the first custom ipsw might be corrupt (at least that is what Itunes told me).
I downloaded the second one and used Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 in DFU mode. I used Alt + Restore (mac user). It opens the software fine, but when it checks with apple, it says: Device isn't eligible for requested build.
It does this whether I let it connect to apple or to cydia's server.
Did I miss an important step?

So basically, it is impossible to downgrade without the SSH blobs.
It makes me wonder what is the purpose of using the CFW?

Hmmm, looks like I have to stick to 4.2.1
The CFW would probably be used to bypass some of Apples annoyances (I'm guessing here as this is the first apple I have) and to probably unlock the phone.
Unlocking is no problem for me as I am not tied to any service provider.
The real pain in using a non-jailbreaked phone is the transferring of files. I miss the drag and drop ease of the PPC6.1 and have to resort to a web server running on my one of my systems.
Lots to learn still....
