    Question Sn0wBreeze or TinyUmbrella?

    hey everybody

i have a couple of question, for the following reasons at this URL Major Problem iPhone 4 sim failure & No Service i have an iPhone 4 firmware 4.1 baseband 1.59.00. and i want to do a restore, i am on 4.1 here are my questions

do i upgrade to the newest firmware or stay at 4.1?
    (Which is better?)

If i stay at 4.1 do i use sn0wbreeze or tinyulbrella?
    (to Preserve Baseband)

can i create a .deb file with my cydia source list i have about 14 additional repo's?
(very frustrating to enter them in 1 at a time)

is there a way to backup and reinstall all my cydia apps?
    (without re-downloading 1 by 1)

which jailbreak is recommended limera1n or greenp0ision?
    (battery issues?)

    give me some ideas please.

    Thanks for all your help

There are two ways to preserve your baseband for iphone 4:
One is to restore thru the help of Tiny Umbrella with stored 4.1 blogs or
Restore to custom firmware of 4.1.
You can use Pkgbackup to help you reinstall back your cydia stuffs.
If you use Tiny Umbrella method to restore to 4.1, then you can use either Limera1n or GreenPoison to jailbreak.
Yes, you can add sources when you are cooking a custom fw of 4.1 if you know how to do it.

Yes, that will be the best to install what you need so as not to mess up your iphone with some stuffs you don't even need which will put your iphone into freezing mode.

a HUGE reason you maybe having alot of problems with ultrasn0w is because you aren't using any dev-team tools to jailbreak your phone. If you rely on an unlock, i would GREATLY recommend you use pwnage tools or redsn0w. Considering you have windows, there are plenty of websites that host custom ipsw's built with pwnage tools. PM me if you can't find one. (just find one in a forum, that has plenty of users that have tried it already)

If you have your shsh blobs saved for 4.0 or 4.0.1 and you still have problems, i would restore to stock apple firmware, and use jailbreakme to jailbreak the device and ultra to unlock, just to see if you can get your phone working properly. If it does, then you can update to 4.1 using a custom ipsw.

I suggest staying on 4.1 and jailbreaking with greenpois0n, it's the best jailbreak out for 4.1 because the other one (limra1n) is buggy and even the author called it crappy
