3g 4.2 issues... software?

hey all... previously this week i posted up about a 3g i sent to italy and well they updated in itunes from jb 4.1 to 4.2 and was having issues getting redsnow to complete and iphone to reboot. Goodnews they got it! they tried it on a different computer and it went perfectly....
oK i have one more question... there home button is not working now and it was b4 the jailbreak, and well it have to be to get it jailbroken. do you think this is a software issue with JB or unlocker? i have tried to get them to install SBsetting too so instead of powering off and on every time to get out of app they could use the sbsetting drop down and well they sayn its not loading. Has anyone else had these issues? anyone have any ideas on a fix ? thanks again to everyone that has helpped n pas few days!

No, sbsettings is working fine on my jailbroken 3gs iphone at 4.2.1.

If its the home button then thats part of the screen and you can get the screen replaced for about $45-70

Nope but I'm on 4.1,

Do you have all of the cydia updates installed?
You might be able to have better luck opening SBSettings if you go Settings->Activator and change more ways to activate it


Add a way to activate the home button in Activator to something easy

You do realize that some apps stupidly hide the clock/battery bar right? In that case you would have to lock the iPhone then SBSettings close it to get out

Another huge problem is that you will have to download a multitask disabler from cydia so it doesn't become sluggish when you working a bunch of apps unless you do an activator change

i dont think its a hardware issue cause the button works fine b4 jailbreaking

Try going Settings->Activator->Reset Settings
Then reboot
