Update to 4.1 or higher on 3gs without update my baseband

Hi everyone.

Maybe someone already ask for it but i dont find the topic.

I have a 3gs running on 3.1.2 already jailbroken with blackra1n my shsh file are saved to 3.1.2 to 4.1.2.
I would like to update to 4.1 to be able to have some new app that need to be on osx 4.0 or higher. But i dont want to upgrade my baseband for the futur(maybe if i change for another carrier)

so i hurt with tinnyumbrella it will not work. I want to know what i need to do. DId i have to make a cooked firmware with pwnage tools and restore with this one or i do anything else??

Yes, you need a custom 4.2.1 made with pwnage tool 4.1.3 to preserve your baseband. Make sure you do not use the ipad baseband update. Also be aware if you have new bootrom 3GS 4.2.1 is a tethered jailbreak right now.

Am I correct that I can keep BB 5.13.04 by pawning 4.2 using the latest Pwnage (special unlock edition.
Can anyone give me some advise on the steps. (I just want to make sure I don't screw up)

Yes, just make the custom 4.2.1 with pwnage tool without the baseband update in it. Use pwnage tool to put the phone in pwned dfu. Then option-click restore to that custom firmware in itunes.

How to make sure that i don't take the ipad update version??

But did i can get on 4.1 or 4.0 only ?? Like download 4.1 original firmware,cook it, then after restore pressing alt key(on mac) then use limera1n to JB again. because i don't really need the latest version. I just Want to be on 4.0 or higher.

You would need SHSH for 4.1 to go to 4.1.

When making the custom firmware just say no when it asks you if you want to update your baseband.

because i got all my shsh file saved from 3.1.2 to the latest firmware. So i can pick the one i want ? And just say no to baseband update when it ask me on pwnagetool ?

In that case you can pick what you want if you have the SHSH, you just have to run tiny umbrella tss server or have hosts point to cydia. Then you can restore to 4.1 custom just as easily and not have to worry about being tethered.

Yup, just say no to iPad baseband part.
