Default iPhone 4 on 4.1 stuck on lockscreen, no response.

So, my iPhone 4 is stuck on the lock screen, repeating a cycle of turning on and off by itself. It started after I tried a hard reset because Cydia was messed up, but that's a whole other story. I can't put it in DFU mode or anything. the phone is unresponsive. No sbsettings at all. I have no idea what to do except for try to update to 4.2. help, please!

Set it into recovery mode and restore. Do you have any SHSHs saved? Or do you not need to unlock and can go up to 4.2.1? Note the jailbreak will be tethered for 4.2.1.

But yeah, you have to restore. I got stuck in the loop once, sucked. I had to restore.

Oh yeah, to set it into recovery, if your home and power buttons physically work then you'll likely be able to do this. Hold home and power until phone shuts off and then release the power and hold home until the iTunes+USB screen shows up. Then iTunes should recognize it to restore. If you have SHSHs, you can shift+restore to a stock fw with TinyUmbrella's TSS Server running. I'm not sure if 4.1 is still being signed so SHSHs won't be necessary if it is still being signed.

The problem is that it will not go into recovery mode. Ive tried to use the power and home buttons and then recboot, but it doesn't do anything.

I'm not sure about the SHSH's, so thats probably a no. I did press the make my life easier button in Cydia, but I have no idea how to use the SHSH's.

I'm just going to try and restore it. Thanks for the help

Well, that's what I was trying to get you to. To restore. If iTunes can pick it up in the state it is in, then restoring is what I recommended you should do. I asked if you could put it in recovery mode because I wasn't sure if iTunes could recognize your device in that state.
