Like I said error 9 can be a real pain. I got it working once by restoring on a Mac even though the windows computers I tried always came back with that error.

she brought it back to me and explained what she did i restored it to 4.2.1. however its at the connect to itunes screen

and i cant get passed it, iv tried doing it by cfw with snowbreeze and no luck

you need SHSH for 4.1 to use the 4.1 custom firmware. To restore to 4.2.1 you will need a custom 4.2.1 firmware made with pwnage tool without the baseband update.

When using redsnow make sure you point it to the 4.2.1 regular firmware, not the custom one

ok after i use the cfw u sent , it restored it, brings it to the activate screen

well since i need it unlocked i put it back in dfu mode, then ran redsnow checked install cydia and and let it do its thing, when its done it goes to boot up but gets stuck at the apple logo with the swirly loading circle and freezes

Wow ok check this out i figured it out , when it got stuck i put it back into dfu mode ran redsnow choose boot tethered, and also put it a att sim card in it, and bam got to the home screen with cydia, now im going back into unlocking it, ect.

So basically i think to bypass on the new bb on a restore on 4.2.1 you have to have a att sim card in it to activate it then u can unlock it, hope this helps others , i seen alot of people having this same issue

If it is new bootrom then you have to run redsnow to boot tethered every time you reboot. And yes it is always good to use the ATT sim to activate as you say you did.
