Please can somebody point me in the right direction

Hi, im a total noob when it comes to this stuff but here goes...

Last night my jailbroken iphone 3G crashed on me as i opend up the camera application, when i finally managed to get it back on it was stuck on emergency calls screen and said it need activating? strange, however everytime something like this is happening the "not" so friendly guy at the shop keeps charging me £30 to fix it.

After researching i see he has been over charging me and thereore i want to learn how to do it my self.

But first i need to know if it is possible. Here is the details.

Iphone 3G
Baseband 05.14.02
Bootloader 6.4
Firmware 4.1
Model MB489

Is there any way i can jailbreak and unlock this phone without the original sim? I am really stuck and any help would be greatly appreciated. You guys no a lot more than me and thanks in advance for any help/pointers.

Hi

You need to download greenpois0n (that is the jailbreak tool for 4.1 with the option to activate)

Once you have downloaded that you need to jailbreak your phone with that (there are many threads about it but it easy to use)

Then when jailbroken you need to install ultrasn0w from Cydia (thats the unlock)

You are going to have to update your iPhone to 06.15.xx though because currently that is the only way to unlock.

I take it thats the baseband? how do i do that mate? sorry for being so noob i just want my iphone back lol

U r going to have to go to the devteam blog and get the latest redsn0w or go to google. You also need the iPad 3.2 firmware also on the blog and your phones firmware from
