Hey, another question. If I jailbreak my iPhone 3g with Redsn0w 0.9.7b6, and then have to jailbreak it again with Redsno0w 0.9.6b6, will I lose all the updates from 0.9.7b6?

I will put it in your PM box. Don't unzip, just rename .zip to .ipsw , use redsn0w 0.9.6b6, browse to stock 4.2.1 fw. Check only the box dfu and perform the action until it says dfu done.
Now run itunes : shift + restore to this CFW of 4.2.1
If you have the new bootrom, you will need to tether boot with redsn0w again.
You will need to install cydia from redsn0w.

If you don't have a valid sim to trigger it, you can run redsn0w from emergency screen to hactivate it.

I plan on using following applications to get my phone up to speed.

Restore phone: Pwnage --> iTunes
Jailbreak: Redsnow
Unlock: Ultrasn0w
Fix battery drainage issue w/ SAM: redsnow (+ iTunes?)

When should I use your custom ipsw, and when to use regular ipsw I downloaded from iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download ? Is this the correct order of operations?

Use the regular firmware with redsnow to enter pwned dfu. Then shift restore to the custom one in iTunes. Then use reg one with redsnow again to install cydia.

Ok I have a 3gs with new boot rom it is on FM 4.2.1 and has BB 6.15.00 I restored it and was stuck in recovery mode. I followed every step on how to fix this.
1. I restored with stock 4.2.1
2. I ran Redsn0w and booted in PWD DFU mode
3.Ran itunes and restored with custom FM
4. iphone boots up but gets stuck at apple logo with spinning circle for ever.
5. Ran RedsnOw on "just boot thetehred and it gets stuck on pineapple with spinning circle forever!!!

Please let me know what I'm doing wrong or if I missed something.

Just to let you know I got it to boot up once normal the first time but then after that was stuck on apple logo with spinning circle.

Yes the first time I tried it it all worked it booted up fine then I jailbroke it. I then turned it off and when I rebooted it never botted up it just stayed at apple logo with spinning circle. I then tried to "just boot thethered" mode and I get pineapple with spinning circle. I tried the whole process over many times from the beginning but always has the same result it doesn't boot and stays on apple logo??????

What did you install in cydia? It could be something from there that caused it.

Never installed anything in cydia. Plus I did a fresh restore with stock 4.2.1 then with custom FM and it never boots? Just apple screen and I didn't jailbreak yet?

What custom firmware did you use? Did it have the iPad baseband in it or no baseband update?

I'm not sure? I just download it from the web I know it was for 3gs? but don't know about the band base? can you direct me to where I can get the correct one.

I justed download CFM with 6.15BB and it did the same thing!!!!!!! Please HELP!!
