    Default Lost contacts... blame Hoffman

So I recently lost all of the contacts, calendar, photos, etc. on my iphone 3g when i accidentally upgraded to ios 4.1. I got a program called iphone backup extractor to retrieve the lost info. I was able to get all of my photos back, so no problem there; however, it only lets me retrieve 2 of my contacts without buying the program, which I have no intention of doing.

Does anyone know how to retrieve lost contacts? Before you suggest clicking "Import SIM contacts" on the phone, you should know that I've already tried that, and it did nothing. Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated. I don't really care that much about retrieving my lost SMS or call history, but I lost some contacts that I'd very much like to get back.

If you have sync your iphone , you should be able to sync back your contacts thru itunes unless you did not.

No, I didn't do that before. That's why I'm in this predicament now. I'm looking for how to recover/restore the lost info from my SIM card.

Have you checked out the recent addition to Cydia called Sim Manager?

Your info is not stored on your sim card, it is on your iphone itself.

Captain Chaos, I wasn't aware of Sim Manager, but thanks for the heads-up. I'll look into it. Cheers!

FYI, SiManager is basically a piece of junk. It read my SIM card and told me there were 50 contacts on it, but it didn't let me view them or anything else. It seems like it might be a good app if you want to save things onto the SIM, but not so much for retrieving info from it. It also looks like the developer needs to work out some bugs.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it looks like I'm back to square 1. I can tell you that I have a bunch of backups saved in iTunes. When I try to use iphone backup extractor, it tells me that on 1 of those backups, I have something like 150 contacts, so I know that they're still saved on there somewhere. I just don't know how to access them. Sigh, maybe I need to break down and buy the full version of iphone backup extractor to be able to get at them.

Any other suggestions for how to retrieve my lost contacts?
