Messages and Phone Contacts not working together...also Spotlight
I figured I'd post in the jailbreak section, as I have a jailbroken iPhone 4 with iOS 4.0.x that just presented a problem after 4+ months with no problems at all. These few problems just recently occurred, and I haven't changed my phone's settings or anything from what I can remember.
Basically, there are a few problems that I believe to be related:
1. Spotlight search is working, but several things are not functioning properly, the first of which is related to Contacts. If I search for a person, I cannot select them and have it go into their contact page. I also can't go to the ongoing text convo I have with them. I can't view any emails that have their name in it, nor can I do the built-in Search Web/Wiki for it. Spotlight also won't successfully select and play any song I search for. However, Spotlight WILL open an app that I search for.
2. If I'm in a text conversation, and I want to call that person, I tap the top bar with the time to go to the top, and select Call. This also doesn't work. It turns blue, as if I've successfully selected it, but nothing happens. Interestingly, I can view Contact Info which is alongside the Call button, BUT when I tap on the number...it does nothing.
Now I can call these people by doing this within the Phone area...it's like the Phone, Messages, and Contacts aren't talking to e/o properly..
If you do not need an unlock , if you have 4.1 shsh blogs by using Tiny Umbrella to restore to stock 4.1. Proceed to jailbreak with either GreenPoison or Limera1n.
Is this a general recommendation sort of like an Apple Store Genius saying upgrading one's phone will surely fix the problem?
I would preferably like to isolate the problem and correct it...unless you can point me to a relatively easy resource for updating, keeping my apps, data and crap the way it is?
Restoring and going for the next higher firmware is the first , easiest way to troubleshoot a problem especially if there are corrupted files which will cause this kind of problems.
Most of the time , your problems will be solved by this method.
You can isolate your problems by slowly uninstalling one app at a time until the issue goes away.
We can't see or physically have a hands on the phone, it would be practically impossible to tell you want to do besides restoring it.
