Hello there right i need help im totally confused on what i am able to do with all the updates from different sources.

My Phone:
Iphone 3G 8GB 3.1.3 (7E18) 05.12.01
02 5.0 Carrier

right i have a giffgaff sim in it and it works

i want to jailbreak it and unlock it!

can someone please give me a clear list of what i need to download. and then give me clear instructions on what to do. i attempted with RedSnow but got the 'Unable to recognize specified IPSW' so any help would be greatly appreciated

What's giffgaff? If it's nit AT&T then its unlocked already just go to

Jailbreakme.com on the iPhone browser and slide the jailbreak lock thing and ur done

It is that easy as long as you dont go above 4.0 on your firmwear

Like has been said just go to jailbreakme.com on your IPHONE an slide to jailbeak

Then after the Jailbreak go to Cydia and install Ultrasn0w and that will let you put any UK sim in

Ok thats cool.

Just one thing before you go. I would download the latest Tinyumberella before you start and run it an tell it to save your SSH blobs.

Then (i am not saying it will) if anything goes wrong you can go back to any firmwear you want

P.S dont go above 3.1.3 on the 3G it slows it down too much

ok mate i have jailbroken it now im on cyndia home, how do i find and use ultrasnow. i missed ssh blob as i rushed ahead hha

Did you hit make my life easier when you went to Cydia if so it will save your blobs for you.

If not make sure you run tiny.

Now just search ultrasn0w (the 0 is a zero) in the search and it should be there. and just install.

If not go to Manage > Sources > Edit > add (in Cydia) and add ultrasn0w.com (remember the 0 is a zero) and it will be there then.
