User Graphical if you just want to see the packages in a generic view. If you select the other two it shows stuff that, if deleted, will break your jailbreak. Do you develop? If not then run with the first selection.

Yes you should do the complete upgrade. Warning though...if Cydia says Reboot Device after the installing is done do not touch the button. Power your phone off using your power button and then slide to power off. Then boot the phone up again using the power button. Sometimes Reboot Device will give you the spinning wheel of death. Do not reboot from inside of Cydia.

Noob here, I have a question, I just downloaded the new version of Cydia, and when I try to download anything from the new Cydia I get the message "Removing Essentials, this operation involves the removal of one or more packages that are required for the continued operation of either Cydia or iPhoneOS. If you continue, you may not be able to use Cydia to repair any damage" then the options are Cancel Ope, or Force Rem. Sorry the second words are cut off so I am not sure what they are. Does anyone know what this is all about? I am using a iPhone 3Gs 16gb 3.1.3 jailbroken and unlocked using jail break me. This is the site that I down loaded the Cydia update from Download & Install New Cydia 1.0.3366-1On iOS 4.1 | Thinktechno.com (Mods if I am not allowd to post the site link please feel free to modify or delete it thank you) Any help would be great.

SBSettings, then RemoveBG. Helps a lot with multitasking feature in 4.x+.
OpenNotifier is great one also.
You looking for something specific?

Things that I install are:
SBSettings. This gives you access to stuff you normally have to dig down into your Settings app for, but it is activated by swiping the top of your status bar from inside of any app.
OpenSSH and AFC2ADD: so that you can browse your iPhone files from your computer.
Winterboard: if you want to install themes.
Bytafont: so I can change the way the fonts look in the phone.
Apps I have purchased in Cydia:
Facebreak: Lets me use Facetime when I am not on WIFI.
FolderEnhancer: Lets you put more than 12 apps in a folder.
iFile: Gives you local access on your phone when you aren't near a computer. It does soooo much you should read about it.
iRealSMS: This allows me to send and receive texts inside of any app without having to exit out of the app and then launch the SMS app.
MyWi: Turns your iPhone into a WIFI hotspot that you can connect to using other devices/computers.
PhotoAlbums+: Gives you the ability to add Photo albums within the phone and move pictures around from folder to folder.
3G Unrestrictor: Removes the limitation of apps that require you to be on WIFI to use them.
Follow the directions of this post and you will have the new Cydia working properly: BTW - This New Cydia is FAST and Awesome
I just did and don't have any issues at all.Last edited by CaptainChaos; 11-29-2010 at 09:13 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Thanks CaptainChaos for the quick reply. For some reason I could not access the site listed on my phone, that is why I Googled the new Cydia, and used that site. Do you think if I can some how access that site, and do a reinstall that will fix my problem?

I just tried that link using my phone, and it says 404 not found. I have no idea what I am doing wrong, but I have tried it more than 5 times, and have had the same result.

Yes, you can do it without DownloadManager, but you have to install OpenSSH and AFC2ADD from Cydia and learn how to SSH into your phone. It is Step 2 in the post from above.

I went to the MMi page on my phone, and downloaded the file from there, and I am still getting the same error. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas to help me out?
Thanks in advance.
