Default 3G will not work with AT&T sim after software update

I've tried to solve this issue for a few days now.

Sister gave me an iPhone 3G which she stated she went to AT&T and had them unlock for her so she could use her t mobile sim card. She's not the type to mod an iPhone, so I can't dispute her claim to this....but anyway she used it for 4 months like this

She gives it to me. I take sim card out of my razr, put in iPhone and all is well. It was running firmware 3.1.3 I believe

Stupid me plugs the phone into computer and updates. Now I am stuck at the activation screen. I put my sim card in and doesn't work.

I jailbreak it using redsnow to 4.2.1 and try it again and my sim doesn't work.

I go to AT&T and get a new sim card and change my number to that one. Put in iPhone and doesn't work, put back in my razr and it does work fine.

Do a dfu restore to 4.2.1 and back at activation screen. Try to activate in itunes and it says sim not supported.

I re jailbreak using redsnow and leave the new sim card in....same deal.

I have no service and it says carrier unavailable.

I'm running firmware 4.2.1 and bb 5.15.04. I do not want to do the unlock to 6.15.00 if I don't have to. I am an AT&T customer and just want to activate a hand-me down phone

If this is an ATNT iphone, then without any jailbreak, it should work.

Ugh, could this possibly be a block IMEI phone?

I don't know it's history, but it's been passed through a few hands before I got it. So who knows if it's a legi or not.

Ugh now I don't want it. I guess I can call AT&T and find out for sure.

There is no way that AT&T unlocked it. They do not, ever, unlock iPhones. More than likely someone at the store Jailbroke it and then unlocked it.

Sim not supported is only displayed when you are using a sim card from a carrierk otherm than the original. If an AT&T sim doesn't work that means the phone came from a diff country and you MUST unlock to use it.

Someone possibly could have jb and unlocked it. I don't know. Lets just say it was unlocked somehow.... my sis was using it on t mobile, and she is not very tech savvy.

I however, am tech savvy, and yet 1 hour after getting the phone, I let it update. Stupid me, I know. Should have read before I did anything

    Anyway, model number is MB489B
    Fw jb'ed. 4.2.1
    Bb 5.15.04
    Bootloader. 6.4

Did some searching......is this a UK phone?

So now what are my options? Pretty much back to using my razr now

I vote you update the BB and unlock with ultrasn0w. Again.. If iTunes is saying an AT&T sim is not supported then the only conclusion is it's from a diff country.

Starting to look that way. Guess that is my only option at this point
