hi!
so as we all know by now the unlock is out for 4.2
so let me tell you what i have going on;
i have a 3g, windows 7 and have just downloaded the stock 4.2.1 firmware for the 3g.
so i just want to make sure i'm going to do this right.
steps are; open redsn0w, browse to stock ipsw that i just downloaded from apple's servers, check the boxes for 'install cydia' and hit next and follow the steps right? do i need to check the 'install ipad baseband' option or no?
just making sure, this is all asking ahead of time.
thanks
If you have a baseband of 05.14 or 05.15 which has no unlock, then you want a baseband which can be unlocked which is the ipad baseband.
You should say Yes to update baseband.
hey! i'm back. so i've been trying to update this to 4.2, here's what happens.
i use redsn0w, select install cydia, install ipad baseband, enable battery percentage and enable homescreen wallpaper.
i turn off the phone, get into recovery and everything goes okay on redsn0w's end.
on the phone it goes to flashing baseband, hangs for approx 1 minute and then goes to 'rebooting' very quickly and then reboots and puts me into recovery mode.
at this point i have tried going into tiny umbrella and kicking myself out of recovery mode but it goes right back into it.
running redsn0w again results in the same thing.
any ideas?
thanks, as always.
oh, yes, it looks like the newest redsn0w is out and up on the dev team's blog, that's the one i'm using for this.
