Need Help updating my Jailbroken Iphone 4

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum for posting and also new to updating a Jailbroken phone. After purchasing the Iphone 4 on release I jailbroke it and never updated my IOS. Anyways I know their is a new update out and was wondering if anyone can help me update my Iphone 4 (Version 4.0.1) to the newest firmware. I use a macbook for a computer, and my iphone is not unlocked, just jailbroken. Thanks again.

If you update to the newest firmware (4.2.1) and jailbreak it will be an tethered jailbreak (meaning you need to run the jailbreak again after every reboot).

You can go to 4.1 and jailbreak fine if you want though.

I never had to reinstall a jailbreak or update since its my first time on my iphone 4, can anyone help with an update step by step?, also would it even be worth updating my firmware.

Just wait a few hours ultrasn0w is getting updated meaning a new jb and unlock! =)

He doesn't need unlock though so ultrasnow won't help him.

4.1 is your only option right now for updating and jailbreaking without having to run a program everytime you turn the phone off and on. 4.1 added gamecenter and HDR photos. So it is up to you whether or not you want to update or not. Let me know and I can walk you through it.

You can update to 4.1 for an untethered jailbreak and I do not recommend 4.2 as you will find it annoying to have a tethered jailbreak.
