Upgrade 3.1.3 -> 4.x + Unlock
Heyya people, I need some advice.
I've got a 3GS here with 3.1.3 but it doesn't function the proper way.
I was thinking to upgrade the 3GS to an 4.x, but with the option to jailbreak + unlock.
What is the best way how I can do this?

Update your itunes first.
You can restore to custom firmware of 4.1 created by Pwnage tools 4.1.2 or Snowbreeze 2.1.

I have a custom activated copy of 4.1. You have to download Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 and download the stock firmware of 4.1. Run Redsn0w and browse to stock 4.1. Check only the box that says : DFU mode only. Perform your DFU process.
Once DFU is done, open up Itunes and restore to this file which I will include in your PM box.
Once restored you are already jailbroken at 4.1 and install Ultrasn0w to unlock.

The baseband of 4.1 itself is not unlockable but restoring to custom firmware of 4.1 preserves your baseband to be unlockable.

Is it OK if I use Redsnow 0.9.6b4 ?
Because Redsnow asks if this the newer 3Gs (with bootrom I guess) ..
And it is.. is that a problem?Last edited by C3NKO; 11-30-2010 at 01:35 PM.

____
I am using Redsnow 0.9.6b4 and followed this instructions:
1. Make Backup.
2. Newest iTunes (Me: 10.1.0.54)
3. Redsnow browse stock 4.1 (Downloaded from your link: HOW TO: Jailbreak iOS 4.1 with Sn0wbreeze 2.1)
4. Redsnow box check: pwned DFU only.
5. After finish, restore the custom firmware in iTunes.
6. After that I get an error
Upgrading 3GS from 3.1.3 to custom 4.1 to get a 4.x with Unlock.
___________
Edit:
Strange.. it's working now.Last edited by C3NKO; 11-30-2010 at 02:11 PM. Reason: Processing..
