Default I haven't SHSH blobs for 4.1, but can I still get an untethered iPhone 4.2.1 jailbreak?

    Hi everyone,

I have decided to jailbreak my phone as I'm fed up of bluetooth for tethering, my notifications being not so good, and I'd like to look into WiFi sync as currently, my analog speakers take a load of interference from my phone when it's on my desk next to my computer (plugged in at the headphone jack).

I'm currently running an iPhone 4, on 4.2.1, not previously jailbroken, the most up to date software, etc.

    Will this work?

    - Downgrade iPhone 4 to 4.1
    - Create a new iPhone
    - Jailbreak using redsn0w
    - Use tinyumbrella and Cydia to save SHSH blobs on 4.1
    - Restore to 4.2.1
    - Restore from back up (all files etc. that are there now go back)
    - Jailbreak using redsn0w 0.9.6b4
    - Install jailbreak apps and enjoy

    ???

Please help, I'd like to jailbreak without bricking my phone if possible.
I am comfortable with DFU and recovery modes as well as using openiboot in recovery mode if ABSOLUTELY essential.

    Thanks,

    Fred

Save your SHSH with tiny umbrella first. You dont need to downgrade. If you use redsnow on 4.2.1 it will be tethered. if you downgrade and use it, it will be untethered.

Wow, I hope you know what you are doing ? You said " downgrade to 4.1 , jailbreak and restore to 4.2.1 ", I have a feeling you are going to mess up your iphone.
