I was wondering if I could jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 running on iPod touch 4G. Is this possible? If so, what software should I use?

I have an iPhone 4 and have not updated the new firmware released today or yesterday. I think it was 4.12 that I had to use Greenpois0n to break. Everthing was going great and then last night I lost the Cydia app and the loader that was with it that I didn't delete. I tried to use greenpois0n to JB again to get the Cydia app back but it won't bring it back. Some one told me to use Redsn0w but some are saying it is a tethered and I dont want a tethered. Do you know how to help me?

It's been a long time since jailbreaking so... what do I have to do to save my SHSHs? I haven't jailbroken before, if that matters.

Doesn't matter. Go ahead and downgrade first. Get a stock 4.1 ipsw and shift+restore to it. Should be fine if Apple is still signing it. Then jailbreak with limera1n or greenpois0n. Then go to Cydia and at the home page you'll have the option to "make my life easier" so select it. That's saving your SHSHs. You can also do this with TinyUmbrella. Download it from thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com and then click save SHSH. that's it.

Restore to 4.1 first before running any jailbreak on it first. Use greenpois0n or limera1n.

Yeah, downgrade to 4.1 and jailbreak with either Greenpoison or limera1n while apple is still signing 4.1.

Yeah I am on 4.1. I did a backup while under 4.2.1 and it is out of date so I am manually selecting everything to go on my iPod. I have limera1n, just this is taking so long!!!

Yeas! I am jailbroken via limera1n on 4.1! And the only thing I lost were 70 photos and my home screen layout. But having a jailbreak is way better!

I tried putting android on touch 2G but openiboot hasn't been formatted or whatever for that. I meant I have an htc android phone, but I wish I could put Android on iphone 4!!

Jailbroken via limera1n, didn't know I could downgrade on iTunes 10. It feels nice to be jailbroken again! Saved SHSHs, whatever that does. Since Saurik acquired Rock Your Phone, I can't use Rock! It was my favorite installer ever. Thanks for the help c
