need help/advice

Hey peeps, just needing some help/advice in that i have a iphone 3gs 3.1.2 thats already jail broken(a present). i was thinking of upgrading to 4.0 with snowbreeze or if something better let me know. I used forecast it said all good but told me to use black snow? also what is the highest itunes i can put on my computer safley with no worries. CHEERS THANX 4 ANY HELP. p.s.New to this if i have missed anything please point it out for me

Update your itunes to the latest. You can restore to custom firmware 4.1 created by Snowbreeze 2.1. Use ireb the latest ireb 4.1 RC2 to put you dfu mode and then shift + restore to cfw of 4.1.
Use Ultrasn0w from Cydia to unlock , don't use Blacksn0w. You have to download the stock 4.1 in order to create a custom from Snowbreeze.

You are safe to download the latest version of iTunes as iTunes updates have not affected the jailbreak community much (yet).

I do not recommend upgrading to 4.0 as 4.1 is a lot more stable AND 4.2 is supposedly coming out soon. Save yourself all the trouble and wait for 4.2 (:

I also advise you to use the Chronic Dev Team's tools rather than GeoHot's (just my personal preference). Sn0wbreeze is the way to got though . Save SHSH blobs.

hey mate, got it done at 4.1 just got one little Q, at the bottom of the screen there is a line about half a cm wide is this normal ? cheers 4 the advice helped heaps

Yes, your baseband remains the same.

You only use redsn0w to put you into DFU mode and you will be restoring to this custom fw.

hey brother sorry to bug you, i used your cfw so far so good just got 1 more Q for you.after restoring the firmware itunes asks to set as new phone or restore the back up. does it matter which is chosen

You should setup as a new iphone, if your previous sync has no problem , then you can do a backup restore. But setup as a new iphone is highly recommended.

Hey can anyone help me or give me some advice. I have a 3G iPhone that's on 4.1 firmware. When I go to YouTube and try to go on it says can not connect to YouTube. I tried the YouTube fix 1-3 from cydia.pushfix.info and it doesn't work. Do I need to use all 3 of them? I used 1 at a time. Can anyone help. Thanks.
