Redsn0w does a better job of it. I've attempted multiple times to use pwned dfu with Sn0wbreeze/iReb and it never works for me regardless of what machine I'm using. Redsn0w, first (sometimes second) try always works

Totally agree My number one choices of JB tools are pwnagetool and redsn0w. Both are really fantastic and nearly flawless IMO.

I have been racking my brain all day today trying to get my iPhone4 into DFU mode to restore my JB iPhone back to JB status. Everytime, I would get a 1600/2001 error code and I just couldn't wrap my head around what was going on. I finally started searching around and found this thread.......saved my a** big time! I am currently using iphone 3GS on ios 4.0.1....i have shsh saved for all the versions from 3.1.3, 4.0.1, 4.1, 4.2.1+,4.3.5...i want to upgrade to latest version possible to jailbreak and unlock...help me please

I have an unlocked Iphone (officially) and im on 4.3.3, i see there is 4.3.5 out, is it worth upgrading? and is there a JB for this firmware?

Not worth updating at all. There is only a tethered jailbreak.

Okay, here's an interesting one. I've come across a brand new 3GS still in the shrink wrap and when I booted it up it had 3.1.3 on it.

How can I:

1. Get the most recent software possible installed on it, and...

2. Do it so I have an untethered jailbreak/carrier unlock for use on T-Mobile?

I have no SHSH blobs or anything. Just the phone, cable, iTunes and an AT&T SIM.

Apple is still signing 4.1 for 3GS so you can make a custom 4.1 firmware with pwnage tool or snowbreeze and restore to that in itunes. That will preserve your baseband so that after the restore you just install ultrasnow and you will be unlocked.

+1. 4.1 is the highest you can go at this point, using the above method will keep you unlockable, and untethered jailbroken.

Hi, new here. I've got a JB iPhone 4 on 4.0.1 and want to upgrade to 4.3.3. I've got the 4.3.3 SHSH blobs saved on Cydia and don't need to worry about unlock. My iTunes is 10.4.1 if it matters. I just want to make sure everything is fine to upgrade and if there's any info or tips I should know beforehand.
