3G Total Wipe
3G/16GB 3.1.2/05.11.07 running 3.1.3 faker, JB and unlocked with Tmobile and clicked on make my life easier at Cydia.
I would like to wipe this phone and start from scratch with 3.1.2or 3.1.3. Bought this thing on fleebay and it has a huge battery drain problem...phone works great and yes the battery has been replaced.
What would be the easiest procure to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance.

Put your iphone into recovery mode and then shift + restore to 3.1.3 .
Jailbreak again with redsn0w 0.9.4 but point to 3.1.2 ipsw

Yes, you will need 3.1.2 as well when you run redsn0w.

2. What about the unlock?

Yes, right here :
How to Jailbreak 3.1.3 iPhone 3G & iPod Touch 1G/2G Windows & OS X
You can install ultrasn0w from Cydia to unlock.
You can download your firmware from here : http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750Last edited by iYeow; 11-14-2010 at 10:27 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Should there be a link for the How To Guide?
Thanks Again for your help!
Yeow202 told me to put phone into recovery mode, but tutorial recommends DFU mode?
Are they the same?Last edited by sandman2; 11-15-2010 at 10:25 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

They arent the same, but are similar. DFU you will see nothing on the screen, restore mode you will see the usb cable and itunes icon. If you are using redsnow to jailbreak you will need to put it in dfu like the guide says.

Just put your iphone into recovery mode and then do the shift + restore to 3.1.3 ipsw.
Recovery mode : Turn off your iphone , while holding the Home button, plug your iphone in until you see Itunes cable logo.
Then Itunes will pop up telling you are in recovery mode and need a restore, you click OK

When you are downgrading, you put your iphone into DFU mode.
When you are restoring to the same firmware or you are upgrading you put your iphone into recovery mode.
Only cases like, if you are using Geohot's exploit, then it is a special DFU mode you have to put for the exploit to work.
In this case you are not using his exploit.
You can use dfu mode, either it will work or it doesn't and will not hurt your iphone.

Is the procedure the same?

Restore to custom firmware created by Snowbreeze 2.1 or Pwnage tools 4.1.2. If you run into errors, run Ireb 4.1 RC2 first and then restore to the custom fw 4.1
