help with upgrading to 3.1.3
hi, what would be the easiest way to upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1.3. I am using a 3g with a baseband of 4.26.08. I need a jailbreak and unlock. Any help would be appreciated.

Download the 3.1.3 firmware and shift-click restore to it in itunes. Once there use redsn0w 0.9.4 to jailbreak and ultrasn0w to unlock.

You have to download 3.1.2 ipsw as well and browse to 3.1.2 ipsw when running redsn0w.

You have to restore to the 3.1.3 firmware in iTunes. Hold down shift and select restore. A window will pop up where you can pick the 3.1.3 firmware. Once restored open redsnow, point it to the 3.1.2 firmware and follow the instructions to jailbreak.
when i try to restore to 3.1.3 is says the firmware file is not compatible. what can i do to fix this?

What is the full filename and extension of the firmware you are trying to restore to?

1) make sure the firmware is not in .zip format but in .ipsw
2) make sure your firmware file begins with iPhone1,2
Try downloading your firmware from the downloads section here on MMi. We are pretty accurate with giving the right download file per device
