Ok so ive just upgraded my 3g to ios4.1 using sn0wbreeze.
When I connect it to itunes, Itunes ask if Id like to restore it from my previous iphone backup. Will this erase everything that I've done? Im thinking it will but couldnt find any straight answers in the forum. I'd like to have my message history, call logs, and contacts back... But yea.
I also require an unlock.
If you restore from back up, you will get whatever your phone had on it before the restore (assuming you backed it up before restoring). If you set up as new, it will be set up as a clean new phone. I'm not sure if setting up as new will wipe out what you've done already though, so hopefully someone can help me clear that up. But restoring from back up is basically putting whatever your phone was like before you restored back on.
yea. thats what i was thinking. I just dont want to risk it restoring with a factory 4.1 and updating my baseband.
But thank you. Hopefully someone will clarify.
? Now youve got me confused. Are you talking about restoring in general or restoring from back up? Because you said you went up to 4.1 with snowbreeze, so iTunes shouldn't be prompting you to do a upgrade to 4.1 anymore. It won't upgrade your baseband to restore from back up...
Even if you restore from a back up you will not get call logs or messages. Always set up as new. Avoid issues.
Sync before the upgrade and jailbreak and then after, it will return all your contacts, music and what ever you have set up in iTunes.
I iz confused too Annie........................opps, puma.leaf
Ok I think you answered my question. I already restored from a pre-cracked ipsw made with snowbreeze. Now my 3g is unlocked and jailbroken on 4.1 and running fine. I was afraid that if I restored from a backup of my old 3.1.2 iphone that itunes would erase everything and possibly in the process update my baseband. But im starting to think that's silly.
thanks for your help. Im going to try it and hope for the best.
