iphone 3G 4.1 to 4.0.1 downgrade?
Hey,
I recently upgraded from 3.1.2 to 4.1. I now wish to downgrade to 4.0.1. i have searched on Google for a while now and everything I try fails. I am on mac OS X. i didn't save my SHSH blobs on Cydia because i used Rock. i keep getting the error (1015). i've tried using RecBoot, Quikpwn and pressing option + click and selecting 4.0.1 and it still does not work for me. Can anyone suggest some alternative ways to downgrade?
Thanks.

Download TinyUmbrella and use that to check what SHSHs you have saved. Save them to your computer. If you have 4.0.1 blobs saved, then you'll be able to downgrade. Click on "Start TSS Server" and then alt + click on restore and select the 4.0.1 firmware. Afterward, use the "Kick device out of recovery" button in TU to finish.

Without 4.0.1 blobs though, unfortunately you won't be able to downgrade.

So it's not possible? Could I downgrade back to 3.1.2?

To downgrade to 3.1.2 , put your iphone into DFU mode
Do the Shift + Restore to 3.1.2
Error 1015 pops up
Exit recovery from the feature of Tiny Umbrella.
Jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.9.4
Don't bother downgrading to 4.0.1, it is as slow as a snail.Last edited by iYeow; 11-06-2010 at 08:34 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I have one suggestion, why don't you restore to 3.1.3. Everything on the instruction will be the same, when running redsn0w to jailbreak , point to 3.1.2 ispw.
For 3g, 3.1.3 is the best for speed and performance.

I have succeed in downgrading my iPhone from 4.1 to 4.0.1. I used a normal downgrade technique and used tiny Umbrella to kick from recovery.
Thanks for the help.
