Hi.

First off i would like to say hi to all as im new

Ok, so im new to Iphone's all together, i picked up a Iphone 3G yesterday as it was going cheap. It has software version 4.1 already on it. Ive downloaded no apps or changed anything in anyway.
Ive read up on jailbreak and seems quite interesting, so im wanting to do it. So i can put apps etc on.
As i have said im new to all this and would appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction on what to download to jailbreak or what to do. I am only wanting to jailbreak it and download and install applications on to my iphone

You can jailbreak with Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 at 4.1 but you can't unlock it yet.

You have to download 3G 4.1 ipsw too

Ok ive downloaded them 2 which you said. shall i run redsn0w first? Im not interested in unlocking it just jailbreak =) thanks

To jailbreak with redsn0w , you have to at 4.1 which update baseband but if you are with official carrier, then it doesn't matter
