Uncharted territory
I know im getting a bit ahead of things considering iOS 4.2 has yet to be released to public but I jailbroke a friends 3gs 2 weeks ago , he bought it in emergency call mode so we didnt know baseband, and after hacktivating with limera1n we found that it has 5.14.02 so he couldnt use ultrasn0w to unlock. My question is that once 4.2 and the new ultrasn0w is released would I have to update to 4.2 and jailbreak again and then use the new ultrasn0w or would ultrasn0w be updated through cydia?

it should be upadate through cydia, no one will know for sure whether it will include the current unlockable basebands or not until it's released

Its best to wait till 4.2 and NOT UPDATE until you here the knees about the unlock
