Default A few questions about jailbreaking and the 3GS

    Just three questions:

    1. Can you remotely jailbreak a 3GS from your internet browser?
    2. Can you torrent on a jailbroken 3GS?
    3. Can you download files from file hosting sites (e.g. Megaupload) on a jailbroken 3GS? If so, how do you access them? MobileTerminal?

    1) Depending on what firmware are on you can jailbreak from safari on the actual iphone (jailbreakme.com and only works up to 4.0.1)
    2) There used to be a torrent program in cydia but not sure if it had been kept up to date.

Safari Download Manager is good because it downloads in the background. Use MobileTerminal, iFile, WinSCP, ssh session, etc depending how and/or where you want to access.

I feel stupid for asking but what exactly is Safari download manager? How can I tell it's running?

Safari Download Manager is a Cydia app that monitors specific file types (ie: .zip, .rar, etc) and starts a background download session when selected.

If installed, it is always available when Safari is open.

Cydia/Manage/Programs shows all installed jb'd' apps.

Also, if installed, an extra icon (2nd from the right) is displayed in Safari. Pressing the icon will bring up a new window to manage downloads.
