Afaik Apple doesn't save the SHSH blobs for the iP3G so you should be able to down grade the iOS to any version you want. Sorry I don't know how to do this, but other posters will. Other wise try google.

Have you started yet ?
Download tiny umbrella and put on your desktop, it is a great tool to use.
There is a feature , exit recovery mode.Last edited by iYeow; 11-03-2010 at 07:56 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Ok. Used Tiny Umbrella to kick myself out of Recovery mode. Now, can I downgrade back to 3.1.3 using Tiny Umbrella, or should I just jailbreak it at 4.1?

You just said you were back to 3.1.3, you confused me.
Alright, you need to download the 4.1 ipsw as well, run redsn0w 0.9.6b2 to jailbreak. See if that works. Just follow the instructions from Redsn0w 0.9.6b2.
So what is your progress now.Last edited by iYeow; 11-03-2010 at 08:35 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Just ran Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 all the way through, twice. After the process, it says that it's complete, but I have no Cydia...

Have you tried rebooting it ? If this doesn't work, I will show you another way, a much longer process though
Do the reboot and let me know.

Why don't you run Redsn0w one more time, you are using Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 right.

Go to spotlight search and see if Cydia is there.

Ran it again and the same thing happens at the end-black screen.
Restarted phone and did the spotlight search. Still no Cydia.Last edited by Kareen; 11-03-2010 at 09:03 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Ok, now you have to restore to 4.1 again. I hope error 28 doesn't pop up, otherwise you will have to wait for battery to drain out.

Restore 4.1 using Tiny Umbrella? Probably iTunes, actually. Does it matter that I'm doing this on a computer that he won't be syncing with?

You don't need TU to restore, restore through Itunes, so your iphone has a fresh IOS 4.1
OR a shift + restore to 4.1 again.Last edited by iYeow; 11-03-2010 at 09:14 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
