How do i get them to activate it?

by using the original sim, when the restore is complete and you have the usb+itunes logo on the screen with the slide for emergency at the bottom, leave it connected with itunes open and itunes will activate the phone (it will go to the lock screen and a popup will appear that says please wait while the phone is activated or maybe it will just popup and say the phone is activated, i can't remember exactly)

Ultrasn0w
You need to run Ultrasn0w from cydia once you have jailbroken your phone. It will then work with the O2 card and maybe even with the T'mobile one also.
Google ultrasn0w if you need further help.Used it a 100 times...;-)
