Is it broken for good?
Hello all,
First off, I am new to this forum, so sorry if i post in the wrong place!
I have an 8GB iPhone 3g Jailbroken on 3.1.3
I was at work one day, and when I pulled out my phone, it would not turn on. All I have is a black screen. I can put the phone into DFU mode and have it detected by iTunes, but I cannot restore with ANY firmware. I have tried the official 3.1.3, 4.0, and 4.2 releases from apple, and a few customized firmwares. Also, when the phone is in DFU mode, there is absoloutely nothing on the screen, and I cannot seem to get to the recovery mode screen with the iTunes logo and usb symbol.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

DFU mode is suppose to be a blank screen.
Once you see it's a blank screen just restore using itunes.

I've tried restoring off of itunes, without holding shift.
I've also tried restoring a firmware from sn0wbreeze.
Both yielded the same error 1600Last edited by terellm12; 10-27-2010 at 07:58 PM. Reason: Grammar

I get 1600 in the beginning of the restore process.
I tried tinyumbrella anyway, and got error 3002 within 60 seconds of initiating the restore.

Try to put it in recovery mode, and not DFU

I have tried to put the device in recovery mode multiple times with no success. I understand that you hold the home button while inserting the usb cord then wait (while holding the home button) for the itunes logo and usb symbol to pop up. If this is the correct way for doing this, than it is not working.

When you're restoring to 3.1.3 (don't do 4.x) and once you get the 1600 error, run iReb to bypass it. If you run into any more errors during, iReb should bypass them. Get it from iH8sn0w.com

Start all over again.
Reboot your pc, now I want you to restore to 3.1.2.
You must have atleast itunes 8.2 or higher
DfU is fine
Restore to 3.1.2 and if you get error 1015 is a good thing
Kick out of recovery from Tiny Umbrella.
Now you will be at Emergency screen.
Let us know, then we will proceed further.

I have attempted to restore to 3.1.2 and got error 1600.
I cannot enter recovery, therefore I cannot exit from it using Tiny Umbrella, in fact, the option is greyed out.
From experience, I know that the device should be put into recovery mode during the iTunes restore process, but this is not happening.
Thanks, but I cannot use recboot, something with my x64 architecture is incompatible. I attempted to install it, and was met with an error immediately.Last edited by terellm12; 10-27-2010 at 09:20 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Yeah, it is possible the 64 bits architecture, if you have another pc with 32 bits, then try it on the other compuer.

No such luck. I have tried with my x64 Windows computer and my x32 linux computer, and have been unsuccessful. On the windows computer, I get a .NET error when attempting to run the excutable, and on the Linux computer i get an error message stating "No module named imobiledevice"

Run Notepad as Admin , open up hosts file and delete everything that has gs.apple.com
C
windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
save it and reboots your pc
and try to restore to 3.1.3 again.Last edited by iYeow; 10-27-2010 at 09:57 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I have deleted the entries in the hosts file that contain gs.apple.com
I have also removed the battery and reinstalled it. Still no change.
The restore attempt generated a 1601 error.

I just read in your very first post, an iphone wouldn't just go blank just by pulling it out. I think you have a hardware problem, you can sell it on ebay for parts. Go get a new iphone, this is all I can think off.
