Iphone 3G 4.1 Unlock

Hi, I'm currently a newbie to all this jailbreaking and unlocking. Just learned how to jailbreak it myself. Horray! Now, on to business. I have been reading that there is currently no Unlock for the 4.1 with my iPhone's baseband on 5.14...

Would it be dumb (or smart) of me to downgrade back to 3.1.3/3.1.2 from 4.1?
or
Should I just wait for the ultrasn0w 1.0-2 update? So, I can unlock 4.1 on 5.14 baseband.

unless it's a very old 3G (as in bought when they were first released 2 years ago) then the baseband can not be downgraded so even if you restored to 3.1.2/3 the baseband would still be 5.14.xx, at this point there is nothing you can do for an unlock but wait

You can always check the bootloader with f0recast. If it's 5.8 you're good to use Fuzzyband from Cydia to downgrade the baseband and unlock.

I've helped 2 people with 3G phones that have been lucky to have 5.8. So try it out, it won't hurt to check.

Yea I checked it and I'm on 6.4 bootloader. Guess I'll have to wait for that dang ultrasn0w update. Dev team needs to hurry up!
