    yep, by using a custom ipsw that is activated, google is your friend

    If you do not know what version is on your iphone , you can press this
    *3001#12345#*

    If it is not 3.1.3, put your iphone into recovery and hit restore in itunes.

    Then read this, you can hactivate, jailbreak and unlock without a sim

    I tried pressing *3001#12345#* but it doesn't seem to respond when I press the call button!

    tiny umbrella or f0recast can also tell you what firmware your iphone is on without being activated.

    I tried using the FW but it always ends up being in DFU!
    Is there another way?
